Chapter 15

Korbyn walks in her house in search of her bat. When she finds it, she grabs it stuffing it under her arm, a bottle of whisky and a kitchen chair. She slides it to her front porch and sits in the chair watching and waiting. She twirls the bat in her hand and leans back propping her legs on the porch rails. When the car she’s been looking for pulls to a stop out front she stands at the top of her steps with her shoulders firm. When he stands from the car crossing his hands in front of him, anger raging behind his eyes, she shivers.

Anger pulses through her and she yells, “You’ll be foehckin’ sahrry Micah! You foehcked up. You’ll regret every fuckin’ ding dat’s ‘appened since I left Galway.”

He laughs bitterly, taking a step in her direction, “I regret nothing. I’m a fuckin’ mercenary. I have no fuckin’ conscious, but you sweet Tally, you can’t control that little heart of yours. Always chasing what never wanted you.”

She twirls the bat in her hand again and drags it behind her as she steps to the first step. Rage poisoning her veins.

He stops, but not in fear, more so in amusement. “Your little toy doesn’t scare me. Remember I get off on the pain. I taught you to use that, don’t forget that.”

She takes the next step, “You may ‘ave taught me, but remember, I perfected it. Remember de deat fights because I do.” She simmers with anger.

Fear flashes across his face quickly, but he is fast to hide it away. “Things are different now.”

She scrunches up her nose nodding, “You’re right! Everythin is different.” She fights to control the anger bottled up in her.

He shoves his hands in his hoodie and presses his lips in a firm line. He takes a step back nodding his head, “Decisions, decisions. We both know you’ll pay for your sins…” he snorts in disgust, “and theirs.” He turns climbing back into the car shutting the door behind him. He pulls from the curb.

When he pulls away it’s not even two minutes later and a bike pulls to the curb out front. Korbyn drops to the chair propping her legs back up on the railing. Expecting Connor or Sean, she’s surprised when Ollie hops up on the railing. He smirks as he pulls the bottle of whisky from her hand and turning it up.

“Where are dey? You send dat message I know you can’t wait to send?” she growls under her breath.

He laughs, “We knew you were here the minute you walked through the front gate. You think it’s a coincidence I pulled up when I did?”

She shrugs not caring, “Do I look like I give a foehck?”

Ollie’s wide set mahogany eyes blink unaffected by her attitude. “I’m not the one.”

She stands swinging the bat in a complete circle, annoyance written deep within her face. “You could very easily be de one.”

He shoves the bottle back in her empty hands, “Save it.”

She takes the bottle and drinks several more swallows before sitting it on the porch beside her.
